Family, Friends and Partners,

Just like most of you, our family is living an unexpected and unique season of quarantine. We pray that you and your families are staying safe and healthy, and finding joy in the midst of this challenging time all around the globe. I was in a moment of tension with one of our kids the other day and I said, “Hey, Dad has never parented during a global pandemic before!  So I’m not sure if I’m doing this right!” HA…I think that applies to pretty much every scenario right now as we try to discover new ways to navigate life in this brand new setting.

Overall, the first portion of 2020, while difficult in our world, has been healthy for Emmaus as we just completed our New Testament Narrative series with 75 students and continue to find God connecting us to new relationships with churches and ministries in order to partner with them in equipping Christ-followers to engage their Bibles and grow as disciples. Our School of Biblical Studies resumes Monday after an extended Spring Break to online classes until we are able to gather in person again, the students are nearing the end of the study of Paul’s letters and only a couple of months from the end of their Emmaus journey.

One of the most encouraging things has been seeing some of our students sharing ways that their study of Scripture this year has encouraged and challenged them during this season.  Here are a couple of recent posts from our students:

Also, Latoya and I have recently been sharing some live devotions with our local church: CLICK TO WATCH MOST RECENT DEVO

And I unexpectedly ended up preaching to an empty auditorium two Sunday’s ago:

We recognize this is a difficult and challenging time for many people, and a time of suffering and pain in nations all over the world. We are praying for you, that God would steady your heart with his love and presence, and that he would fill you with hope.  Please let us know if there is any specific ways we can be praying for you.

Thank you again for your investment in our family, we are humbled and blessed.

Grace and Peace,

Caleb and Toya
